CBPIN Mission Statement
CBPIN is a network of organizations dedicated to providing
the widest possible access to the Information Superhighway. The goal is
to ensure everyone has access appropriate to their needs - business, educators,
students, children, non-profits, the rich, the poor, the disabled.
Access does not merely mean connecting to the Internet.
It means education and training, community networking, youth and family
programs, computer recycling, assistance for the disabled, helping seniors,
and generally ensuring that the "have nots" of the information age have
adequate access to technology. These things are accomplished by:
- Actively participating in community education
- Starting and maintaining Community Technology Centers
- Providing comprehensive local, regional, national and international
information resources
- Providing education and workforce programs for at risk and disabled
youth, low income families, and senior citizens
- Facilitating collaboration and cooperation among government,
business, non-profit agencies, civic groups, and other community organizations
- Helping non-profit organizations maximize their Information Technology
infrastructure at minimal cost
- Acting as a clearing house for computer and other technology
donations and providing repair and maintenance services, including
recruitment and training of volunteers
- Obtaining free and/or low cost hardware and software support through local and national
affiliations
