"Healing Broken Bones to Save Broken Families"
In support of SIGN, the Pacific Northwest District Kiwanis are working to fund at no cost to the recipients, by 2008, 100 SIGN Surgery Projects in developing countries where modern surgical implant technology is not affordable by most citizens. Each SIGN Surgery Project will heal 100 or more persons per year into the indefinite future.

Project Status

Kiwanis/SIGN: To date, the Kiwanis/SIGN initiative has raised more than $50,000 and Kiwanis/SIGN Project surgery centers have been founded in Guatemala City, Guatemala and Hanoi, Vietnam. The surgical staffs in both hospitals have been trained, the hospitals have been equipped with SIGN surgical instruments and 100+ intermedullary nails. Both Kiwanis/SIGN Projects are performing SIGN surgeries at no cost to at least 100 indigent victims of severe trauma per year.

SIGN:
To date, the SIGN Project has established SIGN Surgery Projects in 80 trauma hospitals in 35 developing countries of the world (primarily Southeast Asia, Latin America and Africa). ALL SIGN Surgery Projects serve indigent citizens exclusively at no-charge- 500 SIGN -trained surgeons have restored over 9,000 people to productive lives since 1999.
