The Power of One
Kids Making a Difference Today..
Inspiring for a Better Tomorrow
Please read the introduction from "The Power of One" symposium program Why is it that one person chooses to get involved in community service while another does not? How can we inspire other young people to take a lead role in their communities? After all, today's young people are tomorrow's leaders. On May 10, the Walt Disney Co. and McDonald's brought together many different people with different ideas and attempted to find answers to these questions in a symposium presented by the Disney Institute called, "The Power of One." Jack Ford, ABC News anchor, was the moderator. Some of the people who joined Jack were actor Levar Burton, and the first American woman in space Sally Ride, as well as world leaders, educators, people who work with kids every day and some of the Millennium Dreamers. The hope is that other young people around the world will be inspired by the Millennium Dreamers. Just think of the differences we can make when we choose to serve in our communities. |
